If anyone enjoys white sauce with their Christmas Pudding this recipe might seem familiar... this is a total cheat's custard, but it can be whipped up in 5 minutes and doesn't contain any of the weird additives custard powder does.
The end result is a sweet creamy dessert, bursting with banana flavour. I sometimes throw in some raspberries at the end too!
Serves 2
INGREDIENTS:
1 tbsp cornflour
250ml milk
1 tbsp sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
1 banana
KIT LIST:
Microwave
Small microwavable bowl
METHOD:
Mix the cornflour with 2tbsp of your milk until it’s made a paste. Now top up with the rest of the milk, the sugar and cinnamon
Microwave on high for 1 minute, then give a good stir with a fork or whisk. Put back in the microwave for another minute then stir again. Put in for 30 more seconds, give a good stir, by now the mixture should have started to thicken.
Rip the banana into chunks and add to the mixture, microwave for another 30 seconds. If the mixture hasn’t thickened, keep microwaving for 30 seconds at time until it becomes a custard consistency.
Enjoy! If you want more banana flavour, add some slices to the top. You could even throw in some strawberries or raspberries at the end too!
